What will you be doing?

Our consultants work with government departments and regulators to support the largest and most complex transformation programmes in the UK. These programmes are crucial in enabling government to improve outcomes for citizens, businesses and for the UK. We bring energy, expertise and passion to deliver innovative, pragmatic solutions, which use our cross-industry knowledge and deep functional expertise. As a Baringa consultant, you could be involved in: 

  • Assessing and modelling the market impact of new policies
  • Defining and securing multi-million pound business cases and funding for new services or ways of working across government
  • Co-designing blueprints and operating models for new parts of government 
  • Leading and delivering transformation programmes which improve citizen outcomes
  • Optimising front- and back-office processes across government
  • Building an AI, machine learning and analytics function to help solve complex data challenges
  • Designing and implementing a new service which will support the UK post EU Exit
  • Bringing and embedding industry best practice into government
  • Creating commercial strategies and executing complex procurements

So what are we looking for?


We are looking for talented people who can combine strong Central Government experience with the entrepreneurial spirit needed to help us grow the sector. Ideal candidates will have worked in tier one consulting firms with a track record of taking ownership and delivering results in a challenging, client-facing environment.

  • Passion for government and improving outcomes for citizens
  • Understanding of key central government departments including; HMRC, DEFRA, Home Office, BEIS, MoJ, DIT and the way government operates.
  • Management consulting or government/public sector industry experience
  • Experience in one or more of: 
  • - Policy and strategy formation and design.
    - Development of HMT compliant Business Cases
    - Operating Model
    - Programme delivery and governance
    - Government Commercial including Commercial Strategy Development, Procurement, Contract Negotiation and Management
    Technology Transformation including Agile and experience of GDS Service Standards
