Corporate IT Systems Administrator

We have a small team of dedicated and talented support individuals, taking on responsibility for systems, services and applications in the delivery of varied IT support functions and maintaining operations that support the business. This ranges from supporting user mobile devices and laptops to servers, networking, telephony and hosted applications.

We are now looking for an individual to join Baringa’s IT support services team, with a particular focus on server administration and infrastructure.

You would be responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. You would ensure that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational policies and values, maintaining, monitoring and auditing systems to ensure the same.

You will form part of the IT support services team and as such will be required to assist in any support matters that arise regardless of level/complexity of the request/problem. User support and team co-operation is core to this role along with any other system responsibilities.

You may assist in scope and delivery of projects and will work as part of project and delivery teams.

What will you be doing?
Activities will include:
  • Technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure
  • User support as part of the wider IT support team, on end user issues as well as server issues regardless of level/complexity of the request
  • Daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
  • Management of data storage and system drives
  • Create, change, and delete accounts in maintenance of security and integrity of the applications/services
  • Voice and telephony system maintenance and monitoring
  • Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted business representatives
  • Maintain operational, configuration, or other procedures
  • Upgrade and configure system software and infrastructure applications Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required
Skills/Experience Desired:
  • A self-motivated individual who can work on their own initiative
  • A breadth of experience covering areas such as Windows O/S & Servers, 1st - 3rd Line Support, VMware, VOIP, Storage management and hardware, SQL, Networking, Exchange, Active Directory, Event & System administration, etc Experienced Server and infrastructure installation, configuration and management
  • All round understanding of business architecture and infrastructure solutions and integration of systems
  • A team orientated individual, willing to assist in all areas of support and to learn new technologies / processes
  • A positive attitude towards delivering top quality customer service in a challenging environment.
  • A logical and structured approach towards troubleshooting and project work
  • An excellent communicator who can help to develop good IT practices and service excellence within the company
  • A person who will take ownership of issues and follow through to completion
